QLASSIC Quality Assessment
<!– Section 01 –>
With growing competition, quality management is becoming increasingly important to the leadership and management of organisations. Managing the needs and expectations of clients are the greatest challenges for every organisation.
QLASSIC (Quality Assessment System in Construction) is an assessment tool to measure and evaluate the quality of workmanship of building projects based on the Construction Industry Standard (CIS) 7:2014.
Several building projects have been QLASSIC assessed since 2007 by Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Construction quality has improved significantly resulting to satisfied customers upon delivery of Vacant Possession. QLASSIC is the way forward to achieve high quality buildings for customers. Learn and apply QLASSIC in your building projects.
<!– Section 02 –>
QLASSIC sets out the standard on quality of workmanship for building projects. The quality of workmanship of a construction work is assessed in accordance to the requirements of CIS 7:2014 standard. QLASSIC assessment is carried out for all types of building projects. The advantages of implementing QLASSIC assessment are as follows:
<!– Section 03 –>
Implementing QLASSIC during project development and construction stages enables quality to be managed and controlled throughout the project lifecycle. QLASSIC assures customers of quality buildings.
Past QLASSIC assessed projects had shown a substantial reduction of workmanship defects on completed projects. The number of defect complaints received from customers had declined significantly resulting to more satisfied homeowners.
The advantages of implementing QLASSIC to property developers and contractors are as follows:-
<!– Section 04 –>
Property developers and contractors cannot afford to neglect quality issues. Property developers play an important role in initiating QLASSIC on their projects. The QLASSIC score sets a target for the main contractor to achieve the required quality for the completed building.
The QLASSIC assessment helps to identify the quality shortcomings in a project. Efforts in applying QLASSIC requirements during planning, design, selection of materials, tender and construction stages will help to prevent defects, reduce repeated defects and “do things right the first time and very time” in the best possible manner in delivering a quality project.
